Axos Clearing is looking for a First Vice President, Head of Securities Software Engineering. As our technology leader for Securities in this growing, dynamic firm you will provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of our business. You will communicate with employees, stakeholders and customers to ensure our company’s technologies are used appropriately. Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. We expect you to be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts. This role will be part of the firm’s Leadership Team, driving the vision and growth of the firm. Drawing on your strong foundation in financial services, you will provide oversight and support to Axos teams in developing and driving strategic and tactical planning to support our platforms. Bachelor's degree with senior technology leadership experience within financial services. This role will be onsite, and preferred location will be our HQ in San Diego, CA. This role may be eligible to work onsite at our other locations to include New Jersey, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Irvine, Denver.
Target Range:
$190,000.00 /Yr. - $200,000.00 /Yr.
Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Bonus Target: 25%
Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
Responsibilities:
- Lead API, Application Development, and QA teams
- Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
- Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
- Help departments use technology profitably
- Supervise system architecture and development to ensure functionality and efficiency
- Build quality assurance and data protection processes
- Monitor KPIs and Technology budgets to asses technological performance
- Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
- Ensure appropriate resource allocation for the technology team
- Oversee all aspects of team execution to ensure quality and efficiencies
- Communicate technology strategy to the firm and its partners
- Own and ensure peer collaboration across teams, setting positive cultural tones, and proactively and effectively work with leadership to maintain a positive atmosphere
- Model exemplary leadership communications while being inclusive and open
- Successfully develop talent into positions of increasing responsibility at the individual, team, and department levels
- Participate in succession planning for the department/company
- Work with each direct report to further career development plans using our assessment and goal-setting system
- Proactively partner across departments to resolve talent-related issues and challenges
- Act as a role model for firm talent interactions; in partnership with HR you will identify, recruit, mentor, shape, and retain talent
- In partnership with HR, you will own full career path guidance, recruiting, staffing, capacity planning, and retention strategies, including career development
- Support and provide input to forecasts and share in the responsibility for meeting revenue targets
Requirements:
- Deep knowledge of the capital markets industry and technology
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
